Driver issued five summonses after dump truck crash

A July 25 dump truck crash. (Billy Spivey) A July 25 crash closed Beach Road for over two hours, tied up traffic and resulted in five summons for the driver. Around 2:26 p.m., a dump truck-trailer crashed on Beach at Second Branch Road, overturning onto its roof and catching fire. A load of logs and debris that was being hauled spilled. The driver and three occupants of the vehicle managed to escape with minor injuries. Police investigating assault of local attorney

The office building at 10106 Krause Road. (Google) Chesterfield County Police are investigating the apparent assault of a local attorney last week. The attorney’s name is George H. Edwards, according to another local attorney. Police issued a press release about the alleged assault of a man in a hallway of an office building in the 10100 block of Krause Road south of Iron Bridge Road on Wednesday, Aug. 7. Explosion rocks Fiorucci Foods

Employees at the Fiorucci Foods plant in the 1800 block of Ruffin Mill Road had quite a scare when an explosion occurred July 26, sending flames into the air and shaking the building. It began at 5:41 a.m. when a compressor in a boiler room ruptured and caused an explosion, Chesterfield Fire & EMS spokesman Jason Elmore said. “The blast doors above the boiler room were blown open,” he said. Miles provides update on body camera review funding

NicholsPhillingane Chesterfield Commonwealth’s Attorney Scott Miles said that the county is making some progress in reviewing police officers’ body camera video footage. That comes in spite of the county not receiving additional funding from the state for such in last or this year’s budgets. As part of the current budget for Fiscal Year 2019-2020, Miles notes that the county funded two additional paralegal positions and converted a part-time attorney position to full-time. The latter position was filled when the commonwealth attorney’s office hired Gabriela Phillingane, who started part-time Jan. 28 and was moved to full-time in April following funding approval…
