Shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015, an off-duty Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Deputy was working security at the Addison at Swift Creek Apartments on Lonas Parkway in Chesterfield County. Suddenly and without warning, he was fired upon by a suspect in a passing vehicle. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect’s vehicle exited the clubhouse parking lot nearest Building 4901. The vehicle made a quick maneuver in front of the deputy’s parked car and an occupant in the vehicle opened fire on the deputy. Thankfully, the deputy was not struck. Police responded to a robbery at the Broadwater Townhomes at 1:30 a.m. last Monday. The adult victim stated he was robbed of clothing and personal items. The victim was able to provide police with a suspect vehicle description. A short time later an officer observed the suspect car pull into a residential driveway near Chester Road and Curtis Street. The driver, Devon Shaquil Williams, 20, of the 9000 block of Omaha Street in Chesterfield, Va., fled the area on foot and was subsequently arrested after a police K-9 tracked his location. Charges are pending.
