A fine line

0

As I was sitting here watching the news about the looting and fires in some prominent U.S. cities, a gentleman stated: “There is a fine line between civilization and barbarism.” Very few people know exactly what happened in Minneapolis. The video that we have seen on the news is absolutely sickening, however, we should not allow a trial by video, although I am sure that the video will be used as evidence. Someone standing there, police officer or not, should have done the right thing and stopped what was happening. We trust police officers to protect us, no matter which…

0

By Walter Scott Jr. In basketball today, one of many things used to measure the success of a high school player is college offers. Now, Kylon Lewis added one to an already impressive load of honors. This past week, he received his first scholarship offer from Division II Lemoyne-Owen College in Tennessee. His improvement through his junior season, which led the Thomas Dale boys’ team to the 6A state quarterfinals just a year removed from the Knights just winning five games, was noted. “As the season progressed, he became a more confident player, believing in himself and his abilities,” said…

Bird’s Troy Taylor, has taken off over the past week, and the organization has gained over 1,100 followers since the Twitter account was created May 24. More Mice

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. A few weeks ago, I talked about the little mouse that was making his home in a box under my bathroom sink. I have the same problem in my three-car pole barn, but I expect that, and I plan accordingly. Being out in the country on two acres, you can expect critters to venture into your buildings, and I figured that the pole barn would be their first area of visitation. A preemptive strike there would reduce the odds of them strolling on over to the house. So, I…

Not quite three years later, salon owner and master stylist Bethany Yurachek found herself closing them, under orders by Gov. Northam in an effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. “I was totally shocked in the beginning,” Yurachek said. “I did not realize the magnitude of the virus, but quickly realized that the safety of our clients and staff was first and foremost.” The temporary closure was difficult for the salon located at 12128 Branders Creek Drive in Chester, and…
